We had a great work weekend pulling dead elms and invasive shrubs from the woods north and west of the buildings. What gorgeous mama and papa oaks were hiding behind the box elder trees! Come see the new view.
We have another Handy Person Special coming up March 19-21 which will include some work in cutting 4 inch oak trees for shiitake mushrooms we plan to propagate. We’ll also be using a chipper/shredder to create mulch to protect the trails. Don and I attended the Organic Farming Conference in La Crosse to learn additional strategies in transitioning to organic production. We plan to occasionally add mushrooms to the breakfast menu. Menu for this weekend Handy Person Special is potato soup and corn bread for lunch, for dinner roast venison, root vegetables and lemon pie.
Previous guests have great things to say about work weekends.
“It felt so good to sweat and get my hands dirty!” “The community spirit you create with the group is awesome. We are supportive of your efforts to transition to organic care of your beautiful land.”
“We appreciate knowing we can bring our children to play and hike in a clean environment.”
The Disc Golf Course is open and mud season is over! The grassy paths are great for hiking. It’s a great time to get out, relax and enjoy the fresh air, clear your head. There is plenty of availability!
