The actual inventor of disc golf remains a bit of a mystery—there are known early players and key people who had a hand in bringing awareness to the sport in the early 1960s. What we can say for sure is how the Justin Trails Resort became home to two premier Wisconsin disc golf courses, and that was with a lot of hard work, weed-whacking, and teamwork. What started as a casual idea for golfing with frisbees is now a favorite pastime for millions of players each year—and a super family-friendly activity!
There’s a certain unique camaraderie for disc golf enthusiasts, and it’s always in abundance at our annual Justin Trails Open Wisconsin Tour Stop each September. Last year, our 18-basket professional Wisconsin disc golf courses hosted over 300 players, and we hope to see even more in 2023! Our two courses are the perfect balance of elevation changes, long fairways, enormous downhills, and beautiful scenic vistas.
One of the best ways to fully experience our two Wisconsin disc golf courses is to plan an overnight getaway or multi-night stay at our resort. We offer various lodging options, from cozy bed and breakfast suites and luxurious log cabins to glamping and traditional campsites. Additionally, all of these options are family and dog-friendly, creating the perfect location for summer vacations with the whole crew in tow. If you’ll be joining us for the annual disc golf open, it’s best to get your reservations on the books early. Head over to our availability calendar and book your lodging today!
Our two professional Wisconsin disc golf courses offer the perfect family-friendly activity. It’s a great way to spend time with your friends and loved ones out in the great outdoors. Disc golf is generally low-impact, so all ages and skill levels can participate. Each course is unique, and we often see our guests head out to throw discs more than once during their stay.
The courses are open all day, and nighttime rounds are available by reservation. We also have discs to rent and are happy to offer tips on how to play if you’re new to the game! Here are the details on our two Wisconsin disc golf courses:
This disc golf course has earned the prestigious title of the number one best Wisconsin disc golf course. It features 18 holes spanning a mile and a half, with a perfect blend of open fairways, wooded areas, elevation variations, and challenging shots. On average, it takes players about one to two hours to complete this course.
Our second disc golf course also has 19 holes but is a bit longer than the first at 3.5 miles. It’s ranked as the #5 disc golf course in the US among pay-to-play varieties. The length offers a bit more difficulty, and experienced players love the challenging shots on this route. With incredible hilltop vistas, long emerald green fairways, and pretty wooded areas for a moment of shade, you can’t beat the beautiful surroundings on a summer’s day.
Registration is open for our 2023 disc golf open at our Wisconsin resort. The event begins bright and early on September 16th & 17th. Our two Wisconsin disc golf courses are the best venue. Head to the event page for more information!
We love to welcome tournament players to stay overnight in our cozy cabins or campgrounds. It’s an exciting event, and guests have made lasting friendships by finding others who love this sport. Our courses are free for resort guests, but for those who want to pop by for a game, it’s only $10 for day visitors. This also includes access to our private trail system that weaves through our 200-acre estate.
Playing a round on our Wisconsin disc golf courses is just the beginning of the family-friendly activities we offer at our resort. This also includes your pets, as all our lodging options are dog-friendly. Our curated trail system is perfect for long walks, birdwatching, and exploring our 200-acre farm and resort. We also have two llamas who love meeting our guests (and getting hand-fed treats!) Enjoy a private nightly bonfire, one of the best places for stargazing.
One of our most comfortable accommodation choices for family and dog-friendly cabins in Wisconsin is the Paul Bunyan Scandinavian-Scribe log cabin, which offers beautiful furnishings, a unique layout, and high-end amenities. With your getaway needs in mind, you’ll enjoy 1,000 square feet in this serene oasis. There’s no need to compromise on comfort just because you have your kids or animals along.
The Sunrise Cottage is another excellent choice for dog-friendly cabins in Wisconsin (the cozy seating area is pictured above) and can sleep up to four guests in two separate bedrooms, each with a king bed and a door that locks for extra privacy. Whichever lodging accommodation best fits your needs, you’ll have access to our beautiful property (including our two Wisconsin disc golf courses), be treated to a hearty breakfast each morning, and experience our welcoming and personable hospitality throughout your stay.
