Our 2 Pet Llamas

Porter and Stout

Our journey raising pet llamas began with Dusty and Rusty. Rusty being “rusty-colored” was quite the character with huge bottom teeth that stuck out. Guests either loved Rusty’s toothy grin or Dusty’s gentle nature. Dusty showed affection by gently breathing on guests, especially their heads. It was easy to pet the llamas, as long as they were being fed food. The llamas were often featured in wedding photographs with the Bride and Groom inside the llama pen hand-feeding them treats. The llamas also loved going on llama treks to The Pond or The Rock.

Fast Forward 17 Years

Fast forward 17 years and Rusty passed away. Dusty was now alone so we purchased two baby llamas to keep him company. Porter and Stout were born in September 2020 and moved to Justin Trails Resort on June 5, 2021. Dusty passed away two years later at the age of 19.

Llama Trekking

Explore our beautiful property on a one-of-a-kind llama trek! Due to their gentle nature, llama trekking is becoming an increasingly popular activity for families with children. They are calm and friendly, which means they rarely become overly-excited around a group of giggling little ones. Touching their wooly topcoats is also a different sensory experience that leads to a very calming environment. Llamas don’t bite, either. They only have bottom teeth.

Llama Love

It won't be long before you fall in "LlamaLlove." This is a slow, relaxed, quiet hike, so that people can "de-stress." Llamas maintain a Goldilocks-like pace. Not too fast, not too slow. If you are looking for an "action-packed" hike, then this may not be for you...we take it slow and easy to unwind, relax and enjoy the quiet of nature.
