It’s a winter wonderland across most of Wisconsin Right now. If you’re looking to get out and explore this winter, come join us at our Wisconsin Resort for a fantastic afternoon (or two or three!) of cross country skiing. We have trails right here on our 200-acre property, and plenty more nearby to enjoy. If you’ve never experienced Wisconsin’s Driftless Region in winter, this year is your lucky chance. The winter landscapes around us are stark but exceptionally beautiful, and something everyone must see at least once in their lifetime.
There are few things better than an exhilarating day on the snow, but coming home to our cozy cabins and Bed and Breakfast accommodations might just be better. There aren’t very many places to offer you quite as much as we do at our luxurious eco-resort. Come see it for yourself this winter! Book a room at our Wisconsin Bed and Breakfast and Resort today.
The Best Places for Cross Country Skiing
There is an enormous number of resort activities to enjoy here at Justin Trails. During the winter, that means cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and snow-tubing, and bird or wildlife watching. We offer snow-tubing to guests and the public. Our groomed hills open at 10:00 am, and they offer as much as 1,200 feet of tubing fun. We also supply a variety of tubes for you to use. And, don’t forget! You can always feed our friendly llamas, Dusty and Rusty. They love their treats!
If you want to go explore our property, rent a pair of our snowshoes or cross country skies and head off on a magical wintry journey through the Driftless Region. Around the edge of our property, you’ll find a 4-mile network of groomed trails that are just perfect for cross country skiing or snowshoeing. We definitely recommend trying this at night, too. There’s nothing quite as beautiful as a winter landscape illuminated by nothing but the starry night and moon above.
If you want even more cross country skiing trails to explore, there are plenty nearby. Here are 3 of our favorite places:
- Wildcat Mountain State Park, which has 7 beautiful miles of cross country skiing trails that are suitable for both beginner and intermediate skiers. Snowshoers love the 2.5 mile Old Settlers Trail. Throughout the park, enjoy scenic the contrasting landforms as sandstone cliffs rise in front of you, and take the time to enjoy the stunning views as you make your way around the park.
- The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is a stunning place for nordic skiing. Here, the sandstone cliffs tower above the winding Kickapoo River below, providing an exceptional juxtaposition of Mother Nature’s sheer power and beauty during these winter months. There are 10-miles of groomed trails throughout the reserve
- If you’re looking for solitude and exceptional natural beauty, head to Black River State Forest, where you’ll find 14 miles of groomed cross country ski trails to enjoy.
